You want to go to the big castle like building labeled U. Parking is available in any lot labeled P.

Look for this building:

We will be located on the lawn in front of this building.

If it rains or is extremely windy look for the building labeled G at the south end of campus.

What time?
This event is scheduled to run from 12:00-8:00pm

What to Bring:

  • An attitude that is ready to worship and pray.

  • Blankets

  • Sunscreen and bugspray

  • Water, water, water!!!

  • Sack Lunches- Since we start at noon we recommend grabbing something before. And since we end @ 8:00 we recommend either bringing food or waiting until the event is over.

Prayer request

Thanks for stopping by the site!

Please pray for us and for the event itself as we continue to plan.
Here are some of our prayer requests:

Pray as we contact schools: Pray for favor and the chance to build relationships with campus pastors and students.

Pray for volunteers that are willing to help and pray for Awake.

Pray for those who will attend this event-that God would prepare their hearts for what He wants to show them and do in and through their lives.

Pray for favor with Sterling administration and staff as we plan and work with them.

When is it?

Since this would be pretty vital information:

You are here: How we got to this point

My name is Samantha.
And I'm Molly.
We're both juniors at Sterling College. We wanted to give you a little break down of this event we're planning called Awake '08 and how it came to be.

Sam: This past December I attended the OneThing conference in Kansas City hosted by the International House of Prayer. This year OneThing partnered with The Call , a minsitry that holds days of prayer and fasting all throughout the nation.
One day, while I was in the prayer room, the prayer leader invited those in the room to intercede for young adults and specifically for colleges and universities. I felt led to pray for the KCAC schools. The verses that immediately came to mind was
Revelation 3:1-4 and Exekiel 37:1-14. So I started praying these scriptures for the schools. It struck me that we are called Christian schools (we have a name that we're alive) but often struggle to live it out on campus (but we are dead). I prayed that God would awaken us! Then I thought, "What would happen if we had a day for KCAC schools to gather and pray together?" I kept praying about it and didn't mention it until I got back to school in January.

Molly: One afternoon Sam and I went to the coffee shop downtown to do homework. I asked her about her experience at OneThing. She told me about her prayer for the colleges that led to the idea about having an event for KCAC schools. I said, "Hey, maybe that could be a senior service project." And Sam said, "You're a genuis!" From that moment it was clear that this was something we both felt passionate about. We began brainstorming about what we could do and we came up with Awake '08. The topics that we want to focus on were things in our own lives that the Lord had been placing on our hearts as well as things we observed on our campus
.
After getting the approval of our advisor we were able to move ahead and begin planning. Since then, we have been praying and are continuing the planning process.

Sam: Logistics. Crazy stuff man.
I'm excited!!! To me it feels like one of those "What if?" moments. What if we gathered college students from all the KCAC schools simply to pray and worship together and learn more about God? What if we really are awakened to the reality of who God is and who we are in Him? What if we grew in love for our brothers and sisters in Christ?

Molly: I'm excited too! I think it is going to be an incredible experience, not only because of the planning that we will have to do, but also the day itself. I'm anxious to see it all come to fruition and see what God's going to do. I love worship and I'm excited to see so many people gathered together to worship the same God.

So here we are. We invite you to join with us as we pray and work towards our goals. We'll continue to update the website with information about the day itself and also how those who may attend can prepare themselves.

Thanks for visiting!!!

Welcome!

Hi! Welcome to the Awake '08 blog.

Here's a little bit of information about us:
What is Awake? Awake is a day of prayer, worship, encouragement, and refocusing for leaders and students of KCAC schools (Bethany, Bethel, Friends, Southwestern, Kansas Wesleyan, McPherson, Ottawa, Tabor, St. Mary, and Sterling.)

Mission: To facilitate a time and place for students to be refreshed, refocused, and unified through prayer, worship, and teaching.

Vision: Students will be awakened to the love of God for them, strengthened in relationship to God and one another, reminded of their history with God with the purpose of recognizing their current spiritual health, repenting of unfaithfulness, and walking forward in imitation of Christ, empowered by the Holy Spirit.

Foundational verses: Revelation 3:1-4, Ezekiel 37:1-14
